Shabbaton Rescheduled,Gifts For The Poor On Purim

Feb 17th, 2010 by nzakon | 0

This week’s Shabbaton-Communal lunch is being rescheduled to next week Shabbos February 27th.

“Matanos L’Evyonim” Charity which is given out on Purim Day
It is a positive rabbinical commandment to give Tzedaka-Charity to two needy people on Purim, one gift to each person. Even a poor person who himself subsists on charity is obligated in this requirement.
Optimally, the gift should be substantial. If the gift is money, the amount should enable the poor person to purchase food for one meal.
As it is difficuIt to find someone whom qualifies as a truly poor person, that the money be given on Purim day with enough time for the person to purchase food on Purim…You can give your donation for the poor to Rabbi Zakon or Rabbi Yogi. They will ensure that the money given will be distributed to those in need on Purim. Some of the money will be given to local poor and some to poor people in Israel.
To donate be in touch with Rabbi Zakon or Rabbi Yogi between now and Purim morning.

PASSOVER

Dear Friends,

Pesach is rapidly approaching! One of the main Mitzvos(requirments) of the Seder is the eating of matzah. To properly fulfill this mitzvah, one must use “Shmura Matzah,” matzah that has been

watched and made especially for the fulfillment of the mitzvah. Many people prefer to use the traditional Shmura Matzah made by hand.

We have arranged the purchase of these Matzahs from the Shatzer Matzah Bakery in Brooklyn.

**When placing your order please keep in mind that there should be enough for approximately 2 matzahs per person. (In order to properly fulfill the Mitzva of eating Matza)There are approximately 7-8 matzahs per box. Please be aware that despite the best packing possible, matzahs may break during shipment.

Please fill out the bottom and return your order to DATA of Plano by MONDAY, MARCH 8th with  cash or check payment. Make checks payable to DATA of Plano. No credit cards will be accepted. You may also mail your order to DATA of Plano 3124 W. Parker Rd Suite 3198 Plano Tx 75075

Chevra Kadisha Dinner – Feb 20

Feb 11th, 2010 by nzakon | 0

To all,

Chevra Kadisha is a very important organization. The Chevra Kadisha (holy society) is a group of volunteers who prepare for burial the bodies of Jews whom have passed away. This is a great Mitzvah, done with sanctity and holiness. It is a time honored tradition that communities come together with their Chevra Kadisha to express gratitude to and get inspiration from the volunteers of this organization.

DATA of Plano wish to be part of this event. Please see below and please email Rabbi Zakon if you would like to express your support by attending this dinner. We hope to have a couple of tables of DATA of Plano members.

Please click on the image below to view the flyer for the event. The dinner is at Ohr HaTorah on February 20th at 9:00pm.

Please call me if you have any questions regarding this important event.
