Laws and customs for Yom Kippur

During Yom Kippur one may not:

1. Eat or drink
2. Bathe for pleasure or even wash hands above the knuckle unless to remove dirt.
3. Have marital relations
4. Wear leather shoes or footwear
5. Anoint one’s self with oils

Men have the custom of immersing in a Mikva on Erev Yom Kippur

Just before the onset of Yom Kippur parents bless their children with a special blessing that can be found in the Artscroll Yom Kippur Machzor page 32.
