Fast day tomorrow,Shabbaton reminder
Tomorrow is a fast day, the 17th day of Tamuz.
The Talmud teaches us that 5 tragedies befell the Jewish nation on this day in history.
The fast begins at 4:53 A.M. and ends at 9:22 P.M. If you would like to eat in the morning before the fast begins, stipulate verbally before going to sleep tonight.
Tonight begins the 3 weeks which culminate with the fast of the 9th of Av.
During this 3 weeks Halacha teaches us that we do not:
1.Take haircuts or shave (except when necesary for sake of a job)
2.Listen to music (instrumental that is but just singing is fine)
3. Do not attend celebrations or parties such as weddings, barmitzvas…)
There are additional details pertaining to the 9 days leading up to the 9th of Av as well.
May we merit to see the rebuilding of the Temple and times of true joy speedily in our days!
