· Matchatzis Hashekel – It is customary to give three half dollars to Tzedaka in remembrance of the census that was taken yearly. The head of the household gives for himself and all male members of his family.
· Parshas Zachor – The Shabbos before Purim, we are required to hear the reading of remembering what the Amalekites did to us when we left Egypt.
· Megillah – The entire Megillah (every word) must be heard from beginning to end. The mitzvah is fulfilled at night and again on the morning of Purim.
· Mishloach Manos – Gifts of food are given on the day of Purim. One must give one gift consisting of two types of food to another adult Jew.
· Matanos Laevyonim – Money is given to two different needy Jews on Purim Day itself. Rabbi Zakon and Rabbi Yogi are arranging the distribution of these gifts. Please feel free to give them your Matanos Laevyonim so that they can distribute them on Purim.
· Seudas Purim – We are required to have a festive meal on Purim Day. At this meal, one should drink at least a little wine.
